Regional Long-Range Transportation Plan

As part of a regional long-range transportation vision for northern Utah County, the Utah County East-West Study aims to be comprehensive and coordinated by incorporating current growth and ongoing and future projects for the area. Upon completion of the study, the preferred projects will be recommended for implementation into the Regional Long Range Transportation Plan (LRP), which is the first step toward implementation.

The Mountainland Association of Governments (MAG) acts as the MPO for the Utah County area. MAG prepares the Regional Long-Range Transportation plan (LRTP) and the Transportated Implementation Program (TIP). The LRTP looks forward to a point 20-30 years in the future and is revised every 4 years. The TIP covers a period of 5 years and connects projects from the LRTP with actual funds for design and construction.

The Utah County East-West Study will contribute to steps 1, 2 & 3 of the process described above. The result of the study will be new projects added to the LRTP and TIP that address the needs identified.
